They say we are the average of the five people we invest the most time with. Whether it’s friends or family you’ll begin to consciously and unconsciously start to copy others habits including, language patterns, body language, and thought processes.
There are two primary approaches by which you can personally change. One is to dive deep inside the subconscious mind with will power and persistence to change yourself – the other is to change your environment.
We in effect have a group of cells in out brain called mirror neurons. When you spend enough time with people you’ll start re-enact the ways in which other individuals view and perceive the world. Whether it’s conducive for business success, or holding you back from achieving what you want in life.
Surrounding myself with an entire different group of people is something that has positively changed my life forever. It really came down to surrounding myself with individuals who are forward thinking positive people and who motivated, driven, and passionate about what they do for a living. Just by changing the environment of the five people I invest the most time with, I’ve make dramatic positive change in my life and business.
Here’s a very simple exercise to determine what environment you place yourself in on a daily basis – and if it’s conducive for your success. Create a short list of who you currently feel most empowered around and who you feel least empowered around in your everyday life, family, friends and coworkers. This can be VERY interesting for most people!
Now determine who you’d choose to hang around more…..
What kinds of qualities in a person would you want for someone to be within your close network of friends? What are the most important attributes and values should the person posses? A few examples may include integrity, honesty, motivational, social, creative, and analytical.
Now compare the kinds of qualities of the people you would like to associate with compared to your current association. Is there much of a difference? If so, then there’s a gap from where you are to where you want to be. Most people don’t know what they don’t know. Now you may have just become consciously aware of how being around certain people can have a huge impact on your business and life.
If you feel this resonated with you please post a comment! I look forward to hearing your own life experiences….
To Your Success,
